Chairs is the reproduction of the lid of a can that has been modeled and enlarged to the size of an ordinary seat. These are not real seats since it is far from easy to adapt the proportions of a lid to the true dimensions of a seat. The form is constricted and the actual seat is too narrow for anyone to sit in it normally. Associating the most commonplace use (a can opening) with a subjective, manual type of sculpture, the piece aimed to shed light on how this ordinary gesture would be later translated by industry, reproduced by workers and their machines to become a product, a shared gesture.
